History

The 6 acre transit complex includes 230,000 sq. ft. bus facility opened on March 14, 1976, subway yard in 1977, and the station itself on January 21, 1978. The subway yard consists of marshalling yards, indoor and outdoor storage facilities, and has a plant building and an overhead walkway from the bus garage to the employees personnel platform. Wilson also runs the bus portion with the indoor storage facilities with the staging area in front of the garage and 2 fuelling facilities for diesel and 1 for compressed natural gas (CNG) with 2 wash racks, a Eurovac system, 11 40-foot hoists, 3 60-foot hoists, and 4 inspection pit stations. There was 1 CNG fueling station that is no longer in use since 2006.

Fleet

Bus

Wilson currently holds 278 vehicles, operating with 50 ex-CNG diesel-powered Orion V 40 foot (12 metre) high-floor lift equipped vehicles and 235 Orion VII 40 foot (12 metre) low-floor vehicles (71 diesel-electric hybrid Orion VII NG, 67 diesel Orion VII NG, and 97 diesel Orion VII). It is now a 100% fully accessible garage. During weekends, service is supplied by Orion VII buses, although the Orion Vs make rare runs on weekends.
