The Crémazie Shops are located on the corner of Crémazie and Saint-Laurent streets in the bouroughs of Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.

History

The Crémazie Shops opened its doors in July of 1948, where its primary goal was a maintenance center for the growing bus fleet in Montreal. When first constructed, the shops had a superficies of 90,000 square feet, at a total cost of 1,300,000$ and is designed to maintain a fleet of 600 to 700 buses.

In 1951, with the creation of the Montreal Transportation Company, which had a goal to elimnate the tramways in profit of buses, the newly created Crémazie Shops was expanded in 1956-57 to twice the size from when it first opened. The expanded shops now offer 186 000 square feet and can maintain up to 2,100 buses. The total cost of the expansion was 2,000,000$.

Crémazie Shops Today

The Crémazie shops today serves as a main facility to rebuild buses. Any repairs major enough that cannot be handeled by smaller repair pits located in the garages is sent here. The shops also rebuilds buses after accidents, or whenever a structure issue arises.

The Crémazie shops also does various smaller jobs, including making the casing for bus mirors when they break, to retreading tires and even as far as to build broken and/or worn out drivers seats.
