The Société de transport de Laval (STL) provides the public transit in the city of Laval, Quebec. The fleet is composed of 37 high-floor and 221 low-floor buses to better serve wheelchair users and aging population. These buses serve all 44 regular routes and 95 school routes. STL invests in integrating information technology into their buses and throughout the city.
Paratransit service is operated by Chartrand inc.
Shared taxis service is provided by Co-op Taxi Laval.
History
Private transport compagnies operated public transit service in Laval until 1972:
- Autobus Mille-Îles (1967) Inc.
- Les Autobus Yvan Lévis Ltée.
- Laval Autocar enr.
The Commission de transport de la Ville de Laval (CTL) was founded in 1971 and began its operations as of April 1972. STL came on January 15, 1985.

Fleet Numbering System
The STL has had a fleet numbering system since they have had their Classics. Their fleet numbering system goes like this:
MCI/Nova Classics:
- Between 1987-1988: The second digit of the first two digits was the year.(EXAMPLE: 5844=1988(*Note 5801-5805 were 1987 vehicles)). The last two digits represented the order of manufacture.(EXAMPLE: 5844= 44th vehicle built in this series)
- Between 1989-1995: The second digit of the first two digits was the year.(EXAMPLE: 6015=1990). The last two digits represented the order of manufacture.(EXAMPLE: 6015= 15th vehicle built in this series).
Nova LFS:
- Between 1996-1998: The first two digits represent the year.(EXAMPLE: 9603=1996,(*Note the 97xx were 1996 delivered in 1997).The last two digits represent the order of manufacture(EXAMPLE: 9603=3rd vehicle built for this series).
- Between 2000-2009:The first two digits represented the year(EXAMPLE:0001=2000)The last two digits represent the order of manufacture(EXAMPLE: 0001=01st vehicle built for this series).
- Between 2010-2011: The first two digits represent the year(EXAMPLE:1101=2011)The last two digits represent the order of manufacture(EXAMPLE:1101=1st vehicle built for this series)
