CIT Le Richelain was formed in December of 1984, along with various other CIT Systems in order to have a focused local service.In the beginning, CIT Le Richelain operated in the cities of La Prairie, Candiac, Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Saint-Luc, and L'Acadie and the service was contracted out to the Société de Transport du Rive-Sud de Montréal, who maintained the service until December of 1991.

Le CIT Le Richelain a été créé en Décembre 1984, avec divers autres systèmes de transport CIT dans le but d'avoir un service local ciblé. Au début, CIT Le Richelain opérait dans les villes de La Prairie, Candiac, Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Saint-Luc, et L'Acadie et son premier contrat fut donner en sous-traitance au Société de Transport du Rive-Sud de Montréal, qui a maintenu le service jusqu'en Décembre 1991.

Le 1er Janvier 1992, le contrat a été accordé à Autobus La Québecoise, un opérateur privé basé à Québec, Québec.

En 1997, un contrat a été attribué à Transidev Inc., qui est devenu plus tard Société Gestrans pour gérer la logistique du service. À la fin de 1997, Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu et Saint-Luc ont quitté le CIT Le Richelain pour former leur propre système de transport.

En 1999, Saint-Philippe a rejoint le CIT Le Richelain pour fournir un service dans la ville.

Après la fusion de nombreuses villes en 2001, les services de L'Acadie ont été abandonnées lorsque la ville a fusionné avec Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, ce qui porte CIT Le Richelain à ce qui est est connu aujourd'hui, qui dessert les résidents de Candiac, La Prairie et Saint-Phillipe.

En Août 2014, le système est passé par une refonte du réseau pour le rendre plus efficace. Parallèlement à la refonte, CIT Le Richelain en partenariat avec l'Agence Métropolitaine de Transport ont ouvert le Stationnement Incitatif de Candiac.
